The first painting in my ‘Celebrating Femininity’ series, along with my paintings of Hedwig and Constance Nunez. Each of these characters, whether fictional or non, understood the importance of celebrating femininity. perhaps no one more than Yitzhak, who transformed himself into a beautiful woman, like the monarchs that surround him who transform from caterpillars into beautiful butterflies.

This painting is of Miriam Shor, who, plays the role of Yitzhak, in the movie “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”.

I love the idea of blurring lines between masculinity and femininity. We all have a little bit of both within us.

I hope that someday everyone on the planet will have the freedom to be who they want to be, as long as they’re not hurting anyone, because it’s amazing who we can be when we allow ourselves to be who we always wanted to be.
